A machine vision system is only as good as its camera. If you are looking to set up a new machine vision system, FOVEOS can help you get the ideal camera for your application. We offer integrated cameras that can function as a standalone system and high-quality industrial cameras that work as part of a larger machine vision system.
With our Adaptive Systems Approach™, FOVEOS works to ensure you get the best machine vision camera for your goals. Choose the elements you need to achieve your goals while staying in your budget. This includes the:
We can also customize all the support systems that help ensure your camera can function as you want, such as external lenses, additional illumination, illumination controllers, power supplies, and more.
At FOVEOS, we supply two main types of machine vision cameras:
Integrated machine vision cameras have built-in processors. This lets them work almost entirely as a standalone machine vision system. You can program the processor in the camera to perform tasks and it will output just the result of the programmed function (example: either PASS or FAIL for a programmed inspection task).
Separate machine vision cameras don’t have processors. They must be hooked up to external processor units, such as a PC or a dedicated vision processor. These output their image to the external processor over GIGE or USB3.
Integrated processor cameras are built with the ability to perform machine vision tasks without the aid of an external processor. These are good solutions for places where the infrastructure for external processor does not exist or is not needed.
These cameras are popular because they’re easy to use. Simply set up the camera and it’s ready to run. We can program the camera with all the necessary functions. Typical hardware for integrated processor cameras includes:
While it is possible to output an image from these cameras, typically this type of camera will output the solution to the function or functions it’s programmed with. From a simple PASS/FAIL to coordinates of objects, the integrated processor cameras can identify, verify, count, sort and provide many other functions as your product moves along the production line.
Industrial cameras are more difficult to set up. They need to be plugged into a PC, vision processor, or other processing unit. They also don’t come with integrated illumination. However, they can be a more powerful tool for more demanding tasks.
With an industrial camera, you can select from:
With industrial cameras, you get an image output. You can then do anything you want with the image, such as saving it for later inspection or using it for any number of machine vision tasks.
Customization allows for more complicated tasks. For example, external illumination means that you can select illumination of different colors to improve contrast on certain markings or textures of parts. In addition, you can have multiple illumination sources that might light up for different stages of a complex inspection task.
Many dealers limit you to the hardware and software that is already available “off the shelf.” You can get a camera that has a specific resolution, can integrate with certain types of hardware, and can do a few pre-programmed tasks.
However, at FOVEOS, we can build a custom camera to address your unique needs. This also includes the development of a custom application or inspection algorithm, software that we write specifically to perform the functions you want – assuming we haven’t already written that function and don’t have it in our considerable library of machine vision solutions.
You can customize a camera’s:
Whatever you need a camera and/or its software to do, we can achieve for you. With our custom product engineering, we can achieve goals even if there are not currently hardware or software solutions available that can meet those needs. Working with our global partners, we can acquire OEM parts made to your specifications.
In addition to machine vision cameras, we sell numerous accessories to support or improve the function of your machine vision cameras. Choose from accessories like:
At FOVEOS, we aren’t going to try to sell you a machine vision camera that won’t meet your needs. Our Adaptive Systems Approach™ means that we pair each client with the best machine vision camera for their needs.
We start by listening to you, ensuring we understand your current processes, and how you expect your machine vision camera will integrate with those processes. Then we help you understand your options. There will likely be a range of solutions, depending on your requirements. We can help you get budget solutions if that’s what you need or achieve maximum functionality if that is your necessary goal. We focus on trying to solve not just today’s problems, but anticipating tomorrow’s problems as well, so you get additional value from a system that is adaptable and can grow as your needs grow.
